Antique French Hand Painted Fan Carved Superb Detail & Condition 1800s We are selling one of our family treasures that has been in our family over 100 years. My husbands Grandfather bought this exquisite fan from a antique dealer in New York about 1900. We are starting to downsize our household and you have the chance to buy a outstanding work of art. First let me say , you all know that condition / supply & demand is what counts in this business. Looking at what is for sale on the internet & Ebay , as far as condition , I will rate this fan on a scale of 9.9 out of 10. Fan was shipped to America about 1900 and customs marked that the fan case was damaged as you can see on the back of case. My husbands Grandfather bought it on vacation in New York , about 1900. It was passed down the family to us , and the case damage was repaired by my husband about 50 years ago. Fan held in place by three tiny nails inserted in available carved holes. The only damage is five tiny pin holes in the paper , from left to right , #6 fold 3 holes , #7 fold one hole , #14 fold one hole. You can see them holding up to a light , not laying in the case. The creases on the fan folds has no loss of paint , which is extremely rare to find. The carving is superb , as well as the hand painting. The size of the fan is 21 x 10″. The size of the case is 16 1/2 X 24″. I don’t know if the case glass is original. Case gesso has been repaired & painted. If you only want to buy the fan , we will adjust the price for you.
