This is a gorgeous, heavily detailed and agatized, connoisseurs full and complete round slab of Petrified Wood of what I was told was an Oak Tree, from Painted Gorge Basalt Formation in the famous Schwartz Canyon, Crook County, Oregon. Please be aware that I am not by any means an expert in this field, and I am just relaying what I was told to me by the seller when I purchased this item from an estate sale. I normally do not accept returns, but will allow so on this item so that you might be able to do a closer inspection for yourself (for United States buyers only). This thick slab features a bold, striking combination of colors, and a golden brown, fractur-less, translucent agate filled heart giving it a wonderful high end appearance. The detail of the numerous growth rings is outstanding and as good as ring definition can be. This solid piece has really nice bark definition , and there is an large, aesthetic, agatized partially filled-in area around the center of the slab, giving the piece that something extra. It has a nice satin polish on the front and the back. The rarity, excellent detail and nice contrast of this piece ensures that it make a great addition to any fossil or mineral collection for many, many years to come. This museum quality specimen will display excellent sitting upright on a stand or played flat. The overall sizes is: 12.5″ X 1 3/8″ X 10″ and an impressive 12.5 pounds. There is no damage it was found intact and has no restoration or repair of any kind. Please see the pictures for more detail.
