New CS-7515-2 creative stereo tracking / mix down / mastering console built top quality vintage components and a new hardwood frame. This listing is for SN#002, built to order. Estimated time of delivery from time of a confirmed order is 2-3 months. Main panel: 2 x Refurbished 1970’s Siemens ELA 75-15 universal equalizers (EQ1, EQ2) 2 x Western Electric 111C transformers with XLR input and TT outputs (T1, T2) 2 x 40 dB Daven attenuators (ATT) 2 x 10 dB Daven attenuators (TRIM) 2 x Vintage UTC A-11 based solid state preamps with patchable input impedance (50, 150, 600). Vintage UTC A-20 output transformer. Preamps have a stepped gain control using Siemens rotary switches from 20dB to 60dB of gain. Amplifier type is based off the fully discrete 1970’s Quad Eight AM-4/CA-27. 2 x Direct input jacks which feed directly into the preamp high impedance input, bypassing the high ratio input transformer. 2 x Aux input/output jacks (for patching in external limiters, effects, etc) 2 x VU input jacks 2 x Monitor inputs – The monitor section uses vintage UTC A-15 interstage transformers into Quad Eight style CA-27 buffer amplifiers, and vintage UTC A-20 output transformers. The monitor level control is through a mastering quality stereo, fully stepped, silver plated Siemens phenolic wafer rotary switch custom built with 1% milspec Dale resistors. 2 x Headphone inputs – The headphone section is fed by two vintage Jensen JE-10KB-A bridging transformers into a stereo Opamp Labs headphone amplifier. The headphone level control is through a mastering quality stereo, fully stepped, silver plated Siemens phenolic wafer rotary switch custom built with 1% milspec Dale resistors. 2 x Switchcraft gold plated input jacks/XLR to TT (fed from back panel) 2 x Switchcraft gold plated input jacks output jacks/XLR (fed to back panel) VU panel: 2 x Weston VU meters (fed from VU L/R jacks) 1 x Stereo monitor control 1 x Stereo headphone level control 1 x Stereo / Mono switch (fed from a UTC LS transformer) for checking mono compatibility on the monitors 1 x Monitor mute switch 2 x Headphone amp output jacks (fed from Opamp Labs headphone amplifier) 2 x VU +4/+10 reference level switches 2 x NORM/PATCH switches. (NORM: sends the output of the output jacks (XLR/TT) to the VU/Monitor/Headphone inputs of the corresponding channel. PATCH: disables this normal and all the VU/monitor/headphone inputs must be manually patched in.) Back panel: 2 x Switchcraft mic XLR input jacks (L/R) 2 x Switchcraft line XLR input jacks (L/R) 2 x Switchcraft EXT line XLR input jacks (L/R) 2 x Switchcraft EXT headphone amp XLR output jacks (L/R) – for feeding an external headphone amplifier 2 x Switchcraft program XLR output jacks (L/R) 2 x Switchcraft MON XLR output jacks (L/R) 2 x Switchcraft EXT line XLR input jacks (L/R) 1 x XLR power jack (+24/-24VDC, 220VAC) The back of the console has a hinged cabinet door that opens up to a compartment for storing patch cables, etc. General: The desk uses a patching system with no normals (with the exception of the NORM/PATCH switch on the VU panel). For recording/tracking you would typically patch from the input XLR jack to the preamp input jack of your choice (50, 150, 600 or DIRECT). The output of the preamp would be patched to the EQ input. The EQ output would be patched into the XLR output jack. For mixdown/mastering you would patch into the T1 XLR input jack. The output of T1 would be patched into an attenuator (ATT or TRIM). The output of the attenuator would be patched into the EQ input. The EQ output would be patched into the XLR output TT jacks. The attenuators could also be patched after the EQ and followed by the WE 111C to balance the outputs prior to patching into the XLR output. Any combination of patch points could be used (i.e. two 75-15 EQs in series for tracking a mono channel, one preamp output patched into an attenuator and then the second preamp input for up to 120dB of gain, a line input into the DI input bypassing the mic input transformer to use the preamp as an adjustable gain line booster amp, etc). Custom fused/switched external power supply (desk mount) for feeding 220AC (Siemens EQs), and DC preamp voltages to the console frame. All new metalwork is made in the USA in Seattle, WA. New black machined aluminum Langevin-style rotary knobs were manufactured in Portland, OR.
