Walter R. Bullock [1899 1986] was a prominent aviation pioneer and Early Bird who began his flying career in 1916 when he enrolled for flight instruction at the Curtiss Flying School and was awarded with F.A.I aviator certificate No. 630. He was one of the earliest commercial pilots and was instrumental in the formation of the Air Line Pilots Association in 1930. Bullock was also one of the first pilots to join Northwest Airways and commanded every aircraft the airline operated from 1927 to 1960, which spanned from single engine fabric covered biplanes to ocean spanning four-engine airlines. Listed for auction is a photograph signed by Walter Bullock. The photograph is an image of him in flight on a vintage replica of a pusher plane and the autograph is signed ”Walter Bullock” in black pen. The photograph is also signed on the verso, ”This is a 1947 replica [a poor one] of my original Curtiss Model D pusher. W.R.B” in black pen. The photograph measures 5.25 x 3.25 inches and is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic, and the photograph will be a nice addition to any Early Bird collection.
